| Lycée de Sèvres, International Sections
The Lycée of Sèvres is a French state school that incorporates
International Sections (one Anglophone and one Germanophone) in which
the students have an extra curriculum in order to prepare and choose
between the French Baccalauréat or the bilingual Option Internationale
du Baccalaureat (OIB) which assures English-speaking university entrance.
Preparation is provided for IGCSE, DSD, and language exams (CPE, FCE,
SATs) designed for students intending to study in the UK, Canada,
the USA or German-speaking countries, as well as in France.
The students at Lycée de Sèvres, International Sections
are prepared for these exams by a team of fully-qualified teachers
whose mother tongue is either English or German. The fees charged
for the sections go towards the salaries of these teachers who are
not part of the state system. All other classes are taught in French
to follow the French national curriculum. Spanish, Italian, Russian
and Japanese are also taught at the Lycée. Teachers at Lycée de Sèvres, International Sections
have considerable experience in running extra-curricular activities.
History trips (in France and abroad) and debates (student council
and Harvard Model Congress) are important parts of the curriculum.
In addition, drama is a vital part of school life. The Anglophone
Section has built up a considerable reputation for its dramatic
adaptations with music, and the annual production is a major Section
event. The Lycée de Sèvres, International Sections school
year runs from September to June 30 with a school day from 08:00
to 17:00. The Sections enjoy the full facilities of the 2,300-student
