Founded in 1946, the American School of Paris provides an American
model of education to students from nearly 50 nations, 50% being American.
Instruction is in English, and all students study French, either as
a first or second language.
The American School of Paris embraces the American philosophy of
educating the whole child, with a challenging academic program that
also provides for physical, artistic, personal and social development.
An experienced faculty strives to care for the needs of each individual,
and there is a close working relationship between students and teachers.
The values of respect, responsibility, and honesty are nurtured
throughout the American School of Paris, with community service
an important theme. ASP cultivates a respect for cultural diversity
and a specific appreciation of the schools setting in Paris
and of French culture. Information Technology is well integrated
into the school and curriculum.
In the Lower School at the American School of Paris, homeroom teachers
provide a caring, structured environment, developing the skills
that create a love of learning. Students work with specialist teachers
in French, physical education, art, music and information technology.
Emphasizing an interdisciplinary, team approach, the Middle School
at American School of Paris provides an education that is both rigorous
and personalized. Students come to assume a greater responsibility
for their own learning and decision-making.
The Upper American School of Paris offers a challenging curriculum
that prepares students for the International Baccalaureate (IB),
and Advanced Placement (AP) programs. ASP has an excellent record
of university placement, with graduates attending the finest universities
in the United States and worldwide.
Individual talents in music and theater are developed in a performing
arts program, complimented by a rich program in the fine arts. Many
after-school clubs, sports, and activities take place, and students
travel to other European capitals to compete and to participate
in performing arts festivals.
New families at the American School of Paris are assisted in making
a smooth transition to their new surroundings, and parents create
a community spirit through active involvement in school.
On a spacious, 12-acre campus in the western suburbs, the school
has three IT laboratories, a Performing Arts Center, state-of-the-art
science laboratories, music rooms, art studios, a video laboratory,
a ceramics and sculpture studio, a photography laboratory, two modern
libraries, two cafeterias, playgrounds, sports fields, and two full-sized
gymnasia. The American School of Paris's buses serve western Paris
and its suburbs.
