The International School of Nice is a non-profit, co-educational,
non-sectarian, Pre-K-12 day school providing Anglophone education
for the international community in the Cannes-Nice-Monaco region.
Boarding with French families is also available for a limited number
of students.
The course of instruction at the International School of Nice follows
models used by major international schools around the world. In
Pre-K-5, the emphasis is on language and mathematical skills. Programs
in science, social studies, music, arts and crafts, drama, and physical
education round out the Lower School curriculum. French is mandatory
and taught throughout the school. The Middle School (6-8) operates
as a self-contained unit with its own team of teachers. Skill development
is common to all areas and particular attention is given to the
student's own personal development. The curriculum of the High School
(9-12) is aimed towards the Cambridge IGCSE and the IB. The school
is a test center for the SSAT, PSAT, SAT I, SAT II, ACT, TOEFL and
the Advanced Placement programs. An ESOL program parallels mainstream
English in the Elementary and Middle Schools. The ISN has a strong
music, drama and theatre programme.
The International School of Nice has an average of 15 years of
teaching experience and an average length of stay of ten years at
ISN.
Children from about 30 countries are represented at the International
School of Nice, with American and British students making up 40%
of the student body. Over 95% of the graduates go on to colleges,
primarily in the USA and the UK.
The International School of Nice year is from September through
June with classes meeting from 08:45 through 15:40. There are a
number of extra-curricular activities. During the year all classes
benefit from the cultural events of southern France and class trips
are organized to Florence, The Hague and outward bound residential
trips in the local national parks.
The purpose-built facility at the International School of Nice
has been occupied since 1987 and is located five minutes from Nice
International Airport. It houses classrooms and laboratories, libraries,
art and music rooms, computer laboratory, gymnasium, cafeteria,
theater, playing fields and recreation areas.
Admission is open to all students for whom the International School
of Nice can design a suitable program of studies. The school is
run by the French Riviera Chamber of Commerce.
