The CIV International School of Sophia Antipolis forms a group of
schools working in partnership with and partly funded by the French
State Education system. It is located 22 km from Nice and 10km from
Cannes, in a burgeoning, high-technology activities park which is
the largest in Europe. CIV International School of Sophia Antipolis
offers two High School programmes leading to the International Baccalaureate
(IB) and the French Baccalauréat International Option (BOI).
At primary level, classes are integrated into local primary schools
with students receiving 50% of their education in English and 50%
in French. In middle school a similar system operates but the percentage
of tuition in French and English varies with individual student
need. At high school level, students can opt for either the International
Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or the French Baccalauréat International
Option (BOI). The above system ensures a very high level of bilingualism
among the student body as well as a high level of integration in
to local French life.
CIV International School of Sophia Antipolis prepares students
for admission to selective universities worldwide with combinations
of subjects in French and English. Those students opting for the
French Baccalauréat International Option (BOI) route have
the majority of their programme taught in French with English literature,
history and geography added in English. Those students opting for
the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma route can choose a
programme suited to their needs with subject available in both English
and French. Many of the IB students achieve Bilingual Diplomas.
Approximately 50% of high school students at CIV International
School of Sophia Antipolis are boarders.
CIV International School of Sophia Antipolis is a testing centre
for other examinations including SAT I & II, and PSAT. The student
body comprises over 45 different nationalities.
As well as its own facility, CIV International School of Sophia
Antipolis students have access to the 40-acre CIV campus facilities
giving access in total to five boarding buildings, over 70 classrooms,
a science wing, two libraries, four art studios, an infirmary, handball,
basketball and tennis courts, a gymnasium, a stadium, an outdoor
pool and a student centre housing a cinema, two restaurants, video
rooms, and a computer labs. Extra-curricular activities include
Yearbook, Student Council, Model United Nations, excursions and
field trips within France and to other countries. Skiing is an hour
away.
The admissions procedure includes an interview, review of school
reports and tests in English, French and sometimes Maths from April
to July.
